Our reading-level promise

Every article on Just Out Tech is written so that a 12-year-old can follow it. That is not a style. It is a measurement.

Before an article is published, we measure its Flesch-Kincaid grade level, the same test used by schools and newsrooms. If the article reads above Grade 7, it goes back for another edit. The result is printed in the “Reading level” card on every article, so you can see it.

Why simple is better

Simple does not mean shallow. It means one idea per sentence, a plain word instead of a technical one, and a picture from everyday life before the lesson. Research on science writing has found that simpler summaries are understood better and are rated as more credible, not less.

How we write

We open with what happened. We ask the question you are already thinking, and answer it at once. We give one everyday analogy for each big idea. We show our reasoning with words like “therefore” and “this is because”. And we end every article with something you can do today.
