Just Out Tech explains new technology to the people who have to make a decision about it and cannot read the paper themselves. Every day we take the strongest new research paper in one field, check it against the original, score it for credibility, explain it in plain language, and end with business ideas a real buyer would pay for. We cover every major emerging technology, tell Africa’s tech story from Africa, and publish for readers in every country.
Who this is for
You are very good at one thing and a beginner at ten others. You can build, or fund, or decide. You cannot read a research paper in a field that is not yours, and you should not have to.
That is who we write for. The security engineer reading about quantum computing. The founder in Nairobi or Jakarta choosing what to build next. The investor who has to know how far along something really is before the cheque goes out. The analyst who needs a source with a stated method. The student who wants to understand a thing before the hype reaches them.
We are not writing for people who already know. There are places for that and they are very good. This is where you come when the subject is new to you and the decision is not.
What we promise you
You will understand it. Every article is measured for reading level before it goes out. If it reads above Grade 7, it goes back for another edit.
You will know how sure to be. Every finding carries a score out of 10, marked on a rubric we publish in full. The score moves in public when the evidence moves, and the whole history stays on the page.
You will know how far along it is. Every finding says whether it is one result in one lab or something you can buy today, who paid for the research, and who is building on it.
You can check us. Every article names its source. The scored archive is published as a dataset anyone may use. When we run somebody’s code ourselves, we publish what came out, including when it does not work.
The editor
Just Out Tech is edited by Mark Alex, founder and Managing Director of Real Biz Digital, a technology company operating out of Nairobi since 2018. He works in agentic AI and the Model Context Protocol, AI governance, enterprise software architecture and cybersecurity. He holds an MSc in Mechatronical Engineering from Óbuda University in Budapest and a BSc in IT (Forensic Technology and Cybercrime) from USIU-Africa in Nairobi, has published IEEE conference research on an AI-powered digital twin for greenhouse systems, and is the author of seven books. Between 2020 and 2024 he mentored more than 200 university students and interns in Nairobi.
