Conflicts of interest

What the publisher owns, what is disclosed on every article, and what this site will never take payment for.

This page exists because you are about to read a number we gave a piece of research, and you deserve to know what we own before you trust it.

Who publishes Just Out Tech

Just Out Tech is published by Mark Alex. He is the founder and managing director of Real Biz Digital, a technology company that works out of Nairobi, Kenya. He writes from Budapest.

The conflict, stated plainly

Real Biz Digital builds and sells software in agentic AI, the Model Context Protocol, AI governance and cybersecurity. Those are also subjects this site covers and scores.

That is a real conflict, and naming it is the only honest way to handle it. When we score a paper about agent security, we are scoring research in a field where the publisher sells products. You should know that when you read the score.

What we do about it

Every article that touches a field where Real Biz Digital sells something carries a line saying so, on the page, next to the score. You will not have to come looking for it.

We do not write about our own products on this site. If that ever changes, the article will say in its first line that it is about something we sell.

We do not write about a direct competitor’s product. Research from a competitor’s lab we will cover, because the alternative is to let a commercial interest decide what science gets explained. The disclosure line will name the relationship.

What we will not do, ever

We do not take payment from anyone we cover. Not for an article, not for a better score, not for being covered sooner. Submitting a project or a paper to us is free, and it never buys coverage.

We do not recommend a company, a stake or a trade. We are not financial advisers and this site is not investment advice. We tell you how strong the evidence is. What you do with your money is yours.

We do not give anyone an advance copy, or a right of reply before publication beyond checking a fact. We do correct errors, publicly, on the corrections page.

We do not accept gifts, trips or equipment from companies whose work we score.

Advertising and sponsorship

Where the site carries advertising or a sponsored item, it is labelled as such, in plain words, in the same size type as everything around it. A sponsor never sees an article before it is published and never influences a score. A company that sponsors the site does not get covered while it is sponsoring.

Affiliate links

Some links to tools and books earn us a commission. Every one of them is labelled. We only link to something we have used, and a commission never changes what we say about it.

How to hold us to this

If you think a score is wrong, or that we have failed to declare something, write to us. Send the article and what you think is missing. We publish corrections with the date and what changed, and we do not edit an error away quietly.

Our scoring rubric is published in full, so you can re-score any paper yourself and see where you disagree with us. That is the point of publishing it.
