Robots learn better by watching you than by watching other robots

A robot has to learn how the world works before it can do a job. How do you teach it? Until now, the main way was to let a person steer a robot by remote control, record everything, and use those recordings as lessons. This is slow. It is expensive. One hour of robot lessons needs a robot, an operator and a room set up for the task.

A team of researchers asked a simple question. What if the robot watched people instead? People do millions of hours of useful things every day. We cook. We fold clothes. We fix bikes.
